Why do Chargebacks happen?

Cardholders may dispute transactions on their account for many reasons. It is when a customer/cardholder requests a chargeback from their credit card issuer, it means they’re disputing a transaction and asking the card issuer to refund their money instead of the merchant with whom they made the purchase. The card issuer will raise the appropriate chargeback to support their cardholder's dispute if valid under the card scheme rules.
